Two defibrillators, facilitated by the Parish Council, are now in situ, one on the front wall of the school and the other inside the old telephone box on Lower Street, Pury End. Each is contained in a metal box accessed by a key pad lock.
In the event of a sudden cardiac arrest, the first thing to do is to phone the ambulance service on 999. They will confirm the location of the nearest defibrillator and give you the code to open the metal box and take out the defibrillator. You must send a friend or neighbour to get the defibrillator so it is a good idea to have the appropriate telephone numbers, and a pen, close at hand.
There was a good attendance in October when an explanation and demonstration of the process was given by East Midlands Ambulance Service. For anyone who was not able to attend this event, there is a DVD which can be borrowed from the Parish Clerk, Maggie Down on 811281.
