We are a group who meet every two weeks in the back sitting area in Costa Coffee, Towcester. You don’t need to knit, you can just natter!
At the moment, we meet alternate Tuesdays in term time, but this may vary depending on what we all decide…we are a democracy!
We knit for charities, home and abroad; our current projects are scarves for the homeless in Northampton & Milton Keynes and baby & child cardigans for Syrian refugees.
You are welcome to use one of our patterns, our needles & wool, or use your own patterns if you are already a knitter. Left over DK is always welcome for our supplies.
We can teach you to knit if you are a beginner, or you are welcome to bring along a project of your own to knit if you prefer. We will help you if you need it, or admire it if you don’t!!
The idea behind “School of Life” is to exchange and share skills between young and old. So while the young learn to knit and make pom poms, they also put items on Facebook for us. We learn how to use social media, and often how to use our mobile phones!
School of Life, is run by Karen Bricknell, via the Volunteer Bureau. Karen will purchase your first drink of the day when you arrive, so please just come into the back area and find us…..
