Barley Mow April events

Make sure Saturday 23rd April is in your diary, we are holding a race night at the pub to raise funds for Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th Birthday Party. The races will be shown on the TV and you will have the chance to place bets at the tote desk and follow the drama as the race unfolds! We will also be raising money by selling the horses and jockeys before the event for a very small fee, all with the chance to win great prizes – look out for this at the bar. The event kicks off at 7.30 pm and we will be serving food and snacks to accompany the racing action.

Our search continues for an apprentice chef this month. We are hoping to recruit someone local or from the wider area who is interested in food and cooking and keen to learn a new profession. The apprenticeship would be run by ourselves alongside Milton Keynes College and would likely turn in to an ongoing position after 12-18 months. Please mention this to anyone who may be interested and contact us on 01327 811 086 or email for more information.

As newsletter readers may have noticed one of the village Pilates classes has now moved to the pub and uses our large restaurant area on a Monday morning. To facilitate this we clear the room entirely and this leaves us with a very empty, large room on a Monday afternoon and evening. We thought it could be of interest to other village clubs or organisations, or even new ones, that might be able to use the space. Martial arts? Dancing? Talks? Art Lessons? Brass band? Choir? Get in touch if you would be interested in hiring the space for a very small fee.
